Contemplative Group Dynamics

The Open Group:

An Introduction to the Contemplative Group

During the two hour Open Group format, brief talks and discussions will focus on the guiding themes of the practice: attentional stability and clarity, empathetic resonance, and the use of dreams as objects of mindfulness. We will practice the four foundations of mindfulness (sensation, feeling, mental/emotional events, and experience) in sequence in silence and with speech, a period of shared reflection separating each foundation. Experienced members will be able to deepen their understanding of how the contemplative group dynamic stabilises and clarifies attention.

Open Group: 4th Tuesday of the Month (2 hours)

1200 -1400 USA EST, UK 1700 -1900, CET 1800 – 2000

Tuition: £25, €30; $35 per session.

No prerequisites: a regular mindfulness practice recommended

The Practice Group

Time:

9:00 – 1400 USA EST, 1400 – 1700 UK, 1500 – 2000 CET

Tuition: £460, €550; $620

Available resources included for one’s practice:

Two 30 minute individual meetings
Attendance at the Tuesday Open Group (optional)

All group sessions are recorded.

Pre-requisites: previous experience with contemplative group dynamics, a regular mindfulness practice, and a consultation with one of the facilitators. Previous experience includes attendance at a workshop or two sessions of the Open Group.
